Art with Soul
Born by the Ocean
More than a studio. A space for memory, meaning, and transformation at the edge of Zanzibar’s Indian Ocean.

Our Space & Story
Rooted in Zanzibar. Inspired by You.
At Malaika Tattoo, we set out to create more than just a tattoo studio. We wanted to build a sanctuary a place that reflects the natural spirit, rhythm, and warmth of Zanzibar itself.
Our interior design follows the island’s essence:
- Walls adorned with traditional Swahili carvings
- Furniture handcrafted from recycled dhow wood
- Airy spaces filled with ocean light and natural textures
Right on the shores of Kendwa, our studio is open, calm, and inspiring. Whether you’re here for a small symbol or a full-day custom piece, you’ll feel grounded, comfortable, and connected — to yourself, to the art, and to the island.
What We Offer
- Custom tattoos in ornamental, abstract, and fusion styles
- Walk-in tattoos and piercing services
- Strict hygiene practices (EU-standard, single-use tools)
- Guest artists throughout the year
Because for us, it’s not just about ink — it’s about trust, care, and art that lasts a lifetime.
Our Standards
Your safety is our highest priority. At Malaika Tattoo, we follow strict European hygiene protocols to ensure every client feels secure and cared for.
- Single-use equipment every needle, tube, and ink cap is opened in front of you and disposed of after one use.
- EU-approved materials only certified inks and jewelry, sourced for safety and quality.
- Sterile environment our studio is cleaned and disinfected daily to the same standards as a medical clinic.
Whether you’re a local client, an expat, or visiting Zanzibar for the first time, you can trust that our work is done with the highest level of professionalism and care.
Because art should inspire — never compromise your health.
Meet the Artists
Our resident artists bring two very different but complementary visions to Malaika Tattoo:
Maua Tattoo
Specializing in ornamental designs, Maua’s work is inspired by the flowing geometry of Indian and Arab cultural patterns. Every piece is crafted with patience and precision, creating tattoos that carry both beauty and meaning.
INKSTRAKT (Enna)
Known for an abstract fusion style, Enna creates tattoos that move with the body — expressive, bold, and alive. Each design is a collaboration, transforming emotion and energy into art that flows with you.
Your Experience at Malaika
